Grading Scale
Standards-based grading is used at all Unit 4 middle schools. The goal of standards-based grading is to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information to students and families about student progress. You will find standards based grades on individual student assignments and on grading rubrics. These standard-based grades are then converted into traditional letter grades (A, B, C, D, F). The conversion scale can be found on the left hand side.
For each class goal/standard, standards-based grading communicates the degree to which the student has mastered the standard. Below are the 4 levels of mastery that a student can attain:
E: Exceeding (student goes beyond meeting the goal)
M: Meeting (students has met the goal)
A: Approaching (student is close to meeting the goal)
B: Beginning (student is just beginning to learn this skill)
